DVDshrink 3 beta 5 error?

I'm trying to rip this dvd a friend of mine has (it's an import copy of Rahxephan the Anime) and it gets about 20% completed but then it freezes and gives me this error:

"Failed to read from file. Data Error(Cyclic Redunancy Check)"

Is this some sort of protection? I have dvd decrpyter and it freezes at the same point in the dvd. THERE is a nice sized scaratch in the dvd and the other two dvds ripped without a problem so I don't think it's an copyright protection of some sort. But does anybody have any suggestions for fixing the problem?

sounds like its just too scratched to be burnt and i asume you are ripping the dvd because your friend is having you make a backup for him correct?

we're making a AMV together and we figured we'd use his dvds for it....I fixed the scratch and got it working!
