Well first off your going to need a DVD burner ans while your out buying a new DVD burner you might as well buy yourself record now max/DX as it is the best software for backing up PS2 games. If your lucky your burner might even come with it like my sony DRU-500 did.

I've heard that Nero 6.0 is a good program all around. I don't have experience copying PS2 games, but in general I heard Nero 6.0 is really good. I just bought a Sony DRU 510 and it came with Record Now, but I'm thinking of installing Nero 6.0 instead. I'm planning on copying DVD movies instead though. Just my two cents.

Most software will make a working backup of a ps2 game. Nero, Alcohol120%..On another forum I'm a member of they've got this obsession wiv using dvd decrypter to copy them.

But for all round ease of use/zero coasters Sonic RecordNowDX is the best by far.

It is possible to back up ps2 dvd based games onto cdr's using a rip kit which removes unimportant parts of the games (Ads an Logos, some of the music/speech) and degrades movie sequences so that the game will fit onto one or several cdr's but I wouldn't recommend it as these put a lot of extra strain on the ps2 laser and will reduce the ps2's lifespan. The best thing is to grit yr teeth and pay up for a dvd burner.
