Is $200.00 too much for a 250gb HD?? I saw a few on Ebay for that price. I'm actally looking for a 300 gb 7200rpm HD, but no luck. That's why I'm looking for a 250gb HD. Anyway, is that price too much? Thanks for your help guys.

$200 is not all that bad for a 250 gig - but then rememver shipping and crap - and what kind of drive who mades it - buffer size - and most importantly warrenty and support.

if 160g will do it for you - right now Staples has 160g Maxtor's on sale for $99 after rebate.

For one stop shopping I use zipzoomfly.com they have a few 200+ drives in the ~$200 price - free 2nd day shipping.

other than that - look at a service like www.pricegrabber.com and do a web search. Ebay usuasy sucks for prices on new items, and best to get elsewhere. Remember the sellers on ebay have to pay a ebay fee so their prices on new wholesale items have a markup. For used items it's a different story.

sweet mother of god, infidelity, your not dead lol.

by the way, that is a sweet ass deal considering 250gb hdd's ussually cost like 260 or so.

Also, maxtor makes a 300gb hdd for about 300 bucks. Here is one shop that sells em, and t tell you the truth they are the only brand i've seen with 300gb hdd's.

Hey Quall999!! Your not dead either!!! Haven't seen you AIM in awhile, why the long vacation?!? lol

I checked that site you showed me. I'm EXTREMELY considering on purchasing that 300gig HDD. But, I've got 2 questions.

1. 5200 & 7200 rpm's. What is that, what are the differences? good/bad/neutral?

2. Buffer sizes. The 80gig I currently have installed, has an 8mb buffer size. The 300gig that I'm looking at, has a 2mb buffer size. What are they, what are the differences? good/bad/neutral?

My main concern for those questions, are about the loading.

Thanks for all your replies! And Quall999, hit AIM sometime before this years end!! lol! Thanks guys.

5200 vs 7200 basically is a reading difference. The original xbox hdd is 5200 with a 2mb cache. The xbox won't really take advantage of an 8mb cache size. The only difference you will really notice is how loud the hdd is.

LOL yep. You will also see greater speeds in file transfer to and from the HDD as well.
