Messiah or DMS ?

I'm thinking of getting a lovely shiny silver PS2 for Crimbo.......the problem is, which mod chip ?

Messiah or DMS - any comments greatly appreciated.

Hmm, My favourite is M2, but the Silver V9's have problems with them at the moment - it's a bit hit and miss with them, so go with a DMS3 for the moment as I can't see a true fix before christmas :(

Either chip will suit you fine. The DMS3 has more features like DVD Region Free.

The v9 problem thing, in my opinion, is not chip specific and is as likely to occur on DMS3 as Messiah2. The reports affect messiah2 because it has been on the market several weeks longer than DMS3 v9.

Anyway, neither chip will dissapoint.

When you say neither chip will dissapoint, does that mean that maybe the ps2 will? I mean because from what I understand its the ps2 thats actually having the probs not the chips.

The guy asked for modchip advice. So I gave it.

I also eleborated on the v9 issue that lufcfan mentioned as they might apply to the two recommended chips.

My private view is that the PS2 is suspect in the v9 problem - it is always present in the problem whatever modchip is in when/if the PS2 snuffs. And that is in the cases where the install was perfect - many cases will be mis-installs.

We get our first snuffed PS2 after all these weeks tomorrow (if I can get up to London). That's how long it has taken to be offered one.

When research is complete, we'll be able to enlighten y'all somewhat more.
