Another fried v9. This is becoming common with the v9. You can read about it here (http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=16841), here (http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=17346) , and here (http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=17625)

It's weird that only PAL V9's are being reported. Any NTSC V9's going bad on any chip?

I was gonna mention that earlier but forgot to. I bet he still says somethin to the effect of "put a dms3 chip in there".

Tyler! NO but why didn't he check the chip first and if he paid for a v9 chip then it's down to the supplier to replace said chip and console due to there mistake in giving the wrong order plus this as no Bering on the m2 badness or the bug in the m2 chip
wrong chip for console bad outcome sorry

Good Form, Jackdor! Good to see you offer support and sympathy for fellow members, rather than push the DMS3. :D
(Ms2, DMS3, Duo, SmartChip, etc...) Newer doesnt always mean Better.

this is a teriable situation because people are buyign pre modded ones as well ablivios to whats happening to there ps2 is madness i feel that sony have done this deliberatly to stop modchips being made i dont know about any other people but this is a serious problem that has to bee fixed
indeed a situation like this is extremely bad news:(
as someone has already said on another forum, the forth-coming post-xmas period is likely to cause major problems for a lot of people and will probably create a radical change in the chipping business...
it'll be an interesting time, that's for sure

i do seriously think sony done this on purpose messiah or the dms team should get there act together and make there mods better maybe at this point someone should make a nonsolder v9 this would be good as it wouldnt cause the mb to overheat even though u gotta swap still better than frying ur ps2. ps2 buyiers beware when getting a v9 console it might be a nice shiny silver case bit it still aint worth the hassle i know that the black on is v9 as well if someone is gonna say.

Why not just switch cases with a v7 and just sell the old v9 with a v7 case on Ebay? Just make sure you tell people that its a v9.
Oh BTW, @seaneyb2003 whatcha mean mod in training?
Tyler!
when putting a v7 insides in a v9 case u will need a hot knife cause theres a black post sticking up in middle of the case that wont let the v7 insides go down upon what id did was cut it off with a hot kinfe and it worked :) and dose the silver v9's cost more cause mine was plan ole black unit i didnt care about the color i kind like the quiteness and the ir sensor to use my remote

Just a black post? Just scribe it and snap the booger off.
Tyler!
yeah its like the long shaft that the long screws go in there also on the conners for all 4 long screws to go in. But the one dose'nt use no screw its there relly for nothing dont know what $ony was thinking when they did that. It has no use that i can tell.

Thats hilarious.
Tyler!
Silver ps2 shouldn't cost any more than black one, in fact my silver version 9 was cheaper than a black version 7 I bought 3 months before.
As for version 9's.....I feel very sorry for the people that have lost theirs after being modded and can understand how they feel but at the end of the day it was a bit of a lottery. My version 9 with M2 is workin fine wiv no problems ( after a few teething probs fitting the m2) so i still tend to think that it was just a bad batch of PS2's that sony will never admit to and some are probably still floatiing around out there and will surface from time to time.
Regards an sympathies to dead ps2 owners.

"it wrked for 10 mins" my guess is he talks of backups
if so then he had a v9 chip,a v7 1 wouldnt even work for 1 min
just swap lids or tops ? what about the ilink hole

he says chipped work for 10mins
worked with origanals from his country ,he not sayiny that
it worked, means backups or imports,v7 chip wont boot for 10 mins on a v9,so he had a v9 chip
fixit what u say now, explain how it worked,if he had a v7 chip?
he says chip has no sticker on it, it cant be a v9 chip the lol
but it worked on a v9 ,
ps only v9 chips work on a v9,u try wiring a non v9 magic5 to a v9,see if it works for 10 mins lol
anyone here with any knowledge will tell u the results

never the less a dead v9 or any v. for that matter is definitely a real bummer. hopefully others will steer clear of these if possible, on just not chip them.
Otto does confirm his v9 is all good with that M2, so maybe if this ever comes up again, we should advise newbies to chip with caution, and stay away from Magic chips. EvoEvo also says hes got a v9 getting fitted right now. Curious to hear how he makes out with his... Hopefully his will be Ok.

Back to your problem! We need some additional facts.
Exactly what played OK when you first installed the Magic V?
What game and media type gave you black screen?
Without chip, exactly what happens when you put in the original game?
When you de-installed the modchip, was it in the same position? Had it moved? Did any wires appear compressed and touching each other at the base? Are you sure there are no solder bridges on the points you de-installed?
