Hey guys,

I was wondering if it was possible to replace English audio files on PS2 game with Japanese ones. I'm trying to make a "subbed" version of Final Fantasy and other games that have been dubbed. It it's possible, how do I go about it? Thanks.

Why? So I can have Japanese voices with English subtitles and menus. If I buy the Japanese game, it doesn't have English subtitles and menus.

I guess its possible. But I dont think anyones gonna do it for you.

You would need someone who speaks japanese, someone smart enought to rip out every pss file and extract the english audio and insert jap audio, then you would need to put it all back together.

And that is only if your game uses pss files for their videos. If not then you gotta figure something else out.

That would be very very cool. All games from Japan should have both English and Japanese language on them, with the ability to go English subtitles and Japanese voice. The games they did do that for that I have played (Shinobi, Castlevania, Dot Hack, Onimusha I) made the games more fun for me.

The 'voice-actors' they hire for the English dubbing of some great games really suck, and Final Fantasy X-2 is the latest addition to the list of extreme offenders. :(:(

It may be cool, but I really dont see anyone doing doing it on the side.

cool != feasable ;)

My main gripe is the game developers should just give us both. It's like when I buy an anime DVD, and the English language track is Dolby Surround Sound, then the Japanese track will be 2 speaker stereo or mono. Makes me wanna go crazy up in here.

I just want to see the work of art as it was originally created (plus subtitles). :(:(

Exactly. I'm looking at some of the utilities on the main site to do this, like PSS Plex. I'm willing to spend the time and energy to do this so I can play Final Fantasy and other dubbed games in their original language w/ English subs. My Japanese isn't good enough to play the imports w/o missing some of the plot. I also don't know a lot of kanji.
