Hey everyone, just to let you know.. I just got this backup stuff figured out and I am running the Magic Swap and Slide Card 2.0 combo from modchipstore.com. I have a Pioneer DVR-A06 and am using Stomp RecordNow MAX software, I have version 7 ps2, and i am using phillips dvd+r media which is working incredibly. Also, Verbatim dvd-r media worked just as good. I wanted to post this so that anyone with similar settings and ideas as me could ask any questions if they can't get thiers working. So far I have backed up Need for Speed Underground, Medal of Honor Rising Sun, XIII, Socom 2, Half Life, Sega Sports Tennis, and Hunter The Reckoning Wayward which have all worked flawlessly. Also another plus for the slide card trick is that I have noticed no extra strain on the ps2 laser with funny noises or anything after playing for a few hours using backups. Please post any questions if you have similar settings or are curious about the slide card. Enjoy!

The slide card most likely wont do any damage imediately. A few hours would do nothing. Try reporting back with the functionallity in 6 mo. or a year. Chances are you would be so enthusiastic about your beloved swap card.

Lol. I wonder how amazing he'll think it is then!!:D

Why do we bother bangin our heads against the wall recommending decent mods for people to go out an buy ps2 killers????

Funny Though:p

Both Splinter Cell and Max Payne worked, so did Simpsons Hit and Run, ManHunt, Contra Shattered Soldier, Terminator 3, and Midnight Club 2. Completely Flawless. Who said MP and Splinter Cell wouldn't work??? Take a closer look.

Well, for the time being this is working for me. Also I have a question, if I do go out and get a modchip fitted in there.. will the same backups that I am using with the slide card work when I put the chip in? I am concerned about the ps2 slowly messing up over the next 6 months or so but I have plenty of time to find a good chip. Could I get a link to a site with some of the better ones? thanks, also Enter the Matrix, MegaManX7, Jak 2, & The hulk are successful backups w/ slide card.

Pass the training level in Splinter Cell and load up the next level. That is where you will have your problem.

Get a Messiah 2 chip and you won't have to worry about the PS2 messing up at all (providing you get it professionally installed).

P.S. Particularly happy today as we WON (yes, I know it's hard to believe, and a consortium wants to buy us out and erase our £80m debt!!! Move over Abramovich! Lol :D )

Hope this helps...

I have been using the slide card method just about ever sense the ps2 game out. I have tried my psx games, and the ps2 games I own and it has not broke my ps2 yet, it plays everything just fine. But if you look at my other forum I am having trouble playing dvd-r backups I am using a Backpack dvd+-rw, swap magic 2, and version 4 ps2 unit. As goes for the swap method braking your ps2 it has not happened for me and I have had it sense 2001, and no problems. I have used Gameshark 2 to boot my games before I purchased the swap disk.

Thank You,

I have not yet had the chance to play through the training level in splinter cell, but as for max payne i did have a problem with that, after the loading screen it gave me an error about please insert a ps2 format game.. but i am going to try it with a dvd-r disc instead of a dvd+r maybe that will work. Ratchet Clank goin commando didn't get past the load game screen, maybe i try that with a dvd-r as well. Up to date now, thunderstrike operation pheonix, tekken 4, oni, primal, jet x20, teenage mutant ninja turtles, resident evil dead aim, dead to rights, and mortal kombat deadly alliance work flawless.

It aint gonna be your +r or -r thats your problem. Its that your using the slide cards. These games have a double check.

This is an update to my forum, I went out and got the new plextor dvd burner. I bought TrueCrime also at Bestbuy, and burned it to a Verbatim DVD-R and used the Magic Swap Disk to boot the game. I am pleased to say that it booted without any problem, and I was able to play the game.

So I would like to say to people that I had an USB 2.0 Microsolutions DVD+-RW drive, DON'T BUY IT. I know it is not much but I have had nothing but problems with the drive. Get the plextor Plextor DVD+-RW PX-708A it is $250.00 but worth every penny.

Good Luck to everyone but remember only copy the game IF YOU OWN IT. Don't post anything about Downloading, Renting, or any other stupid stuff about games. Only about your own games.

Hi,
Can any of you guys tell me how do I use swap card to play my original PAL game DVD on NTSC PS2 console? I am new to this forum and PS2 world in general and don't understand stuff like "taking a backup as iso" etc.

Will I need to do anything like taking a backup of the game etc. before playing the CD? Or I simply have to load my CD in the console and I am all set to play the game. Pl let me know.

Thanks,
Alfa

Use the search button. As far as i know Swap magic will play imports.
BTW, this thread is almost 2 years old. If you have problems after searching start a new thread :)
