I am experiencing an odd problem (or at least odd to me - not quite the veteran CD-burner) while attempting to burn my Placebo - "Sleeping with ghosts" CD. When I insert this into my DVD drive, it picks up that it as audio CD, and starts to play it using a player that comes with the CD (it is not a true audio CD, and cannot be opened by other players that i know of). When I insert this into my CD burner, it refuses to acknowledge the existance of the CD.

But, this is not all. I can have the player open, playing Placebo, and then when I open the CD burning software I'm using (one that came with the driver, "RecordNow", not the best choice but I don't think this is the problem"), and go through the steps, when it gets to the step "Insert a CD to read" the CD hides. The music stops, and "My Computer" will swear on Bill Gates black heart that the CD in the drive is a blank one, even though the drive has not opened since it was a music CD 5 seconds ago.

Im really struggling to find a way around this, and am finding the title of the CD quite ironic, and am starting to laugh manically. If anyone could help me before I go mad, I'd very much appreciate it.

Thankyou, and I apologise for the length of this post :).

I think Cactus Data Shield uses an integrated player.

Get clonyxxl to scan the cd for the protection.

Then try CloneCD (there also exists an Cactus Data Shield profile somewhere on the web) to make a working backup. It is important to only read the first session of the CD. (Depending on your drives, though. My Tosh DVD will not read the cd, while my LG writer does the job perfectly).
Good Luck!
