ive heard of the blue chip for a v7 but it certainly doesnt support divx not to my knolage
Well guys,
I'm thinking of modding my v9 in Aus, and I've contacted this installer of http://www.psxmodchips.net/ he wrote to me saying that there's this blue chip for version 9 and it supports divx.
When I ask him about this chip, he was saying it existed for quite some time and told me smart chip is a clone of it.
What do you guys reckon?

I wouldnt even do business with the guy telling you about this blue chip bs.
Tyler!
I wouldn't get one. Here (http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=17281)
Oh okie, BH, i think this ShadowKnyght on ps2newz is the installer that I'm talking about. Geez I guess he'll try the blue chip on me huh?
So you guys reckon a magic 5 is better? I'm looking for a simple mod chip solution which is not that expensive. DMS 3 V9 is retailing at about $90 - $100 Aud I guess and the M2 is just slightly below it.. Guess that all the good chips are darn expensive.
Thanks
Jack

well these days you can pick up a messiah 2 for £25 pounds there the best mod avaliable for your ps2 as i live in england i dont know how much it will be in dollars say bout 40-50 dollars.
Theres about 5 pounds diffrence between a magic 5 and a messiah 2. the bad thing about magic you have to tap the reset button to play your copyied game, messiah boots straight off :D.
i wouldnt get a bluechip stay with the well known brands like magic messiah dms and the non cloned smartchip (http://www.ukmodchips.biz/ sell the smart chip)
hope this helps

You say the non cloned. Is the smart chip for V1-7 cloned?
Is it only the X5 that is not cloned or are they all non cloned?
Getting a bit confused reading several forums...

Ok, it's the other way...
Then a smartchip is what I'm gonna get...
just looking if http://www.ukmodchips.biz ship to sweden too.
and what that would cost.
looks like it will be cheaper to buy from them than from the seller here in sweden...
Here they take £23 for it without any wires.

Hi, thanks for your help.
25pounds comes up to $59 AUD.
Anyway I've just went out and installed a magic 5, and i'm testing it now, I don't have to tap reset to play my backups, all i did was boot like an original, eject, put in disc, eject and it boots.
It cost be $150 AUD (64 Pounds) thou to get the chip and install it. It's freaking expensive imo, but well I can't seem to find other installers in where I live and it comes with 6 months warranty too :)
Cheers Mates

Hi,
pardon my ignorance, but whats the difference if i boot using the eject method instead of this reset method? will it damage my set in anyway?
What I did was this and everything boots well (PS2, imported originals & all backups)
1. From Standby, i press eject,
2. tray opens, put in the disc
3. press eject, games load
(PS1 original, backups, & out of region movies)
1. From standby, press & hold eject for 2sec,
2. tray opens, put in the disc
3. press eject, games/movies load
(PS2 pal originals / mod chip off mode)
1. From standby, press & hold eject for 5 sec,
2. tray opens, put in the disc
3. press eject, games load.
