I just bought SOCOM 2.

I know I can play online with my messiah 2 when I disable it, but do I have to ? (I'm too chicken to try)

And my buddy has a ver.4 w/ a no-solder, and SOCOM 2. Will the DNAS detect his no-solder and not allow him to play ? (He's too chicken to try)

And finally, is there a way to disable a no-solder ? (if he even needs to)

Of course theres a way to disable, unplug it. Sorry, I'm not up to date on the new chips, but from reading it doesn't look like there were many new advances. I've been gone for a while frequenting other board of other personal hobbies. As far as I know, there is not a way to turn off the no solder modchips. Perhaps someone should implement it in. Maybe have 1 solder or a clip for that function, if it has not already been done

As for you and messiah2..... it's really not hard to disable the chip.
I believe you can play online without disabling the chip as long as you're using your original, I'm not 100% sure though....go ahead and try it, is not like they ban you or anything (like with the xbox).

You need your Messiah 2 turned off to be able to play even your original game online. DNAS checks for modchips and for original games.
