Dose any one know if a normal unmodded US NTSC XBox will play Region 0 - PAL DVDs? With the DVD playback kit of course.

Yup it will no problem. Region 0 dvds have no territory lockout so they'l work anywhere in the world....as long as it's a dvd player of course!

Ya I know about Region 0 its great. I was just wondering how a unmodded XBox would handle a PAL movie. But now I know. Thanks.

Xbox or Ps2 do not need to be modded to play backup dvds. Although Region coding is a different story. I know a NTSC Ps2 will not play a PAL region 0 movie. But it will play a NTSC region 0 movie.

I will never pay good money to buy the Xbox Dvd Playback kit especially since it should have came preinstalled. So I cant test my Xbox.

This isnt a back-up, its a real pressed copy.
Not really a big deal, I was just finding some info for a friend.

I agree with you that the XBox would have DVD play back from the get-go. But it was just a way for Microsoft to make more money...

For $300 the thing cost when they came out, you woulda though it would have done the dishes, did your homework, ordered pizza, and called for strippers when you wanted them. :D
