Games that have blacklist for Alchol 120%, Nero or CloneCD (etc):
Empires: Dawn of the Modern World
Call of duty
May Payne 2 (1.01)

It's based on the latest version of Alcohol 120% 1.4.7.1005
This list might be fixed on the next version of Alcohol, might also be fixed on Nero. But CloneCD it wont be fixed. No new version is expected yet!

IF you have an old version of Alcohol 120%
All SafeDisc 2.90 games are in the blacklist.

NERO 6.0.0.23 is here! Update!

Games that have SafeDisc 3.00 or SafeDisc 3.10:
Empires: Dawn of the Modern World
Call of duty
FIFA 2004
Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King

Would like to add that clonecd isn't dead at all. Have a look on the slysoft website & you'll see that they already offer a new version.

you can change the settings (manufacterer etc.) for the virtual alcohol drives to whatever you want. this should work with blacklisting the default drive settings.

I dont believe Nero is blacklisted as it doesn't provide any form of emulation, virtual drives, copy protection circumvention etc.

jeez krondike, make sense

what you mean is that those games are protected with protection such as safedisc or securom, and that safedisc or securom blacklist various drivers / devices / software on your machine, so that if files on the blacklist are discovered the protection will not pass the check, regardless of you having an original cd or not, the games themselves dont have the blacklist, the protections do... if you want a more extensive list of what exactly is blacklisted then i would suggest you debug the protections and see for yourself

True although it's only a virtual recording device - doesn't allow you to mount images
'Virtual drive' may not be the best term, i'm sure there's a distinction between these two types of drives.

Anyway...a virtual drive wouldn't exactly be reason enough for blacklist...it's the emulation that's the killer.

We realy don't know if Nero or CloneCD is blacklisted. Becuase the one's that's tried have uninstall all. And then run the game.
We don't even know if the crack by pass the blacklist.

But I do know one thing, Alcohol is one of the blacklist, and they working they ass of to make it fix on the next releas!

Hey Is there anyway to make a backup of call of duty. I have tried but with no sucess. Always read errors. What program should I use to do it if possible? I noticed alcohol doesnt have safedisc 3 on the list. Ok thank you all. Cheers

Its been half a year since I half-hearted played with Nero.

But I made a ".nrg" image of a CD and had Nero mount the image to a new drive letter. I dont recall any emulation of protections.

Alcohol 120% still is the one that's works with SafeDisc 3. But here is the problem. You can't do a fust dump! Becuase when you using the original .exe with the original CD it might not work. Becuase of the blacklist thing. So you have to chosses. Waith for the next version of Alcohol 120% or do the slow dump. Can take even a day if it's realy bad. And that's mean that Reading error is normal.

Use Safedisc 2 profile. And accept reading errors!

This pretty much says it all. If the crack is properly done, then no blacklist checks. I would be surprised if the companies added the check directly to the "virgin code" and yeah, protections really likes the debugger too:D But that is another thing...

A blacklist means that the protection checks for installed programs that it doesn't like, and if found will not launch the game. This applies to original games too! not just backps as tippex mentioned.

It's a cat and mouse game of protection getting updated with latest blacklists, and programs getting changed slightly to avoid detection. It's pointless for the copy protection companies because they are shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing users to run their legit original games due to a program installed on the same computer which is none of their business. The irony is that a crack will fix the problem as BM mentioned - so in some cases a crack is needed to play an original cd.

Actually, I didn't bother uninstalling Nero before installing Call of Duty and the game runs without a hitch both with and without running the NO-CD patch. Good thing too, otherwise I'd be pissed like you wouldn't believe... :D

The FIFA 2004 v1.1 update also has SafeDisc 3.

krondike
06-11-2003, 22:20
I did write FIFA 2004, and EA Games are not a company that bring a .exe file without protection. Other compnies might do that after a while becuase protection might have bugg in it's, but EA Games don't ever do that becuase they are a p**** company!

So yeah I didn't write 1.1 becuase 1.0 was SafeDisc 3.10 and SafeDisc 3 isn't compatable with SafeDisc 2 and the latest version is SafeDisc 3.10 so it did figure it out that the new version should be also 3.10 ;) but much thankz for the report.

If anyone wonder why I did wrote 1.01 on Max Payne, is becuase 1.00 is not reported as a blacklist protection, but 1.01 is!

Ok well the backup worked. I Uninstalled the original to try the backup out and it installed fine. The thing i realized after is that the backup installed with alcohol installed as well. I dont know if the original worked with alcohol because i had it uninstalled at the time. Hope someone can make sense of it , or maybe it can help someone. By the way it is an aussie version.

something to add:

nero6 includes a true virtual drive called ImageDrive. If you have Nero6 installed go and have a look at the control panel. from there you are able to en/disable the drive.

That isn't a blacklist error, you got an error with your image file. Where did you get the image file? Put in your original Cd and install it from them! CAn't see why you making a image of the original CD and install it from them. There only 1 cd that's protected with SafeDisc 3. That's the only cd that's need to be emulated. And that's the only cd you need to run the game.
