I heard that it's going to be illegal from the 31 October 2003 to mod chip consoles. Dunno if this applies to the UK only or the rest of the world. Has anyone heard of this or has anymore infomation regarding this?

i think every country has its own mod chip laws i think in one country a court rules them legal and even made sony honor the warrenty on chip ps2

They haven't made any exceptions to the law, so making is backup is illegal as of now...

it's illegal to tape stuff off the tv in the uk but everybody still does it,i seriously doubt this will affect anyone really (i know it wont affect me lol)

well, no. If you were to make your own modchip then It would be hard to get cought. Butv mass selling a modchips will be harder to do.
