Ok, I bought game today, excited, got home installed and got insert correct cd-rom. So i went to activision/support page and found that is common problem.

They say the way to correct that is to uninstall Alcohol 120 and or Nero, because it runs a virtual tray that messes with the new securom copy protection. My question is this, is there any way i can make it so it doesnt see alcohol or nero? So i can play. I buy games that are good, i use nero to back up mp3's dont care if i have to uninstall that, but the alcohol i dont want to uninstall because i cant find my key and bought it over 8 months ago, not to mention i back up my cds on there and then have them on my HD in case i need them ever again.

This pisses me off, because i always buy games i like and now the anti copying **** they put on, wont work because i have alcohol or nero, which is my friggin right to have on computer. I dont get it, i want to return this game so damn bad, but love the demo's i have played and reviews of it, but come on, now i pay for a copy that wont work because i have another legal program on my computer, thats smart thinking on there part, cause it just makes people not want to shell out 52.99 with tax for a game that isnt even guaranteed to play when they get home, because they have a cd copy program on their machine.

If anyone could help me by telling me what i can do without uninstalling Alcohol i would appreciate, i dont mind taking off nero, cause i can just put back on later, but alcohol i cant do, unless i find key in my mess of papers that i print out daily. Any help or pointing to where i can would be appreciated. I will write activision a nice letter, thanking them for saving me 52.99 of buying game if i cant play it and i have to return it. Because in their infinite wisdom, they thought by messing with the people that actually by the game with some sort of cheat protection would make for a happy customer, while the person with some simple crack plays happily. This is called "blacklisting", and is one of the ways game publishers like to screw their customers over. How to solve it ? First of all there are some settings you can change in programs like A120% and Daemon Tools, things like "Vendor Identification" and "Product Identification". Sometimes they look for device driver with the standard id for A120% to check for the presence of the program, so changing that might work. Most of the time you need a new version of A120% or DT to bypass the blacklisting. So wait for a new version OR hunt down that Alcohol key. That's all I can think of at the moment. Anyone know how to retrieve an A120% key from the registry ? Maybe that could work...

Return the game and buy it again later. This makes it very costly to the store and publisher to deal with returns. Neither will like it.

They will think twice about blacklisting legal programs if they have to deal with returns.

1 return eats up the profit of 2-3 games not returned. The handling and paperwork is very encumbering.

I don't see the point of blacklisting nero, it doesn't use any form of emulation/mouting or? Don't have the lastest version, but..

Blacklisting is lame and totally pointless, I can already see the headlines:

The last Nero I used allowed mounting an image, but I havent heard of it emulating a copy protection. So as far as I have experienced, Nero is useless with most copy protections.

Buy it and return it specifically saying that the game is incompatible with your computer. Does the box list the requirement of not having Nero or Alc120 installed?

After several thousand returns, they will surrender.

I have both Nero and Alcohol 120% installed, and retail CoD is running fine on my box. They are not however, running any 'virtual tray' or anything else in the background. I simply don't let any app on my box run unneeded tasks in the background until I need it. (Except Windows ;) )

Have you tried just shutting down any processes controlled by those programs?

Clonecd is also usually blacklisted, try uninstalling that one too.

Hmmmmm, I heard a rumor that Lite-On CDRom drives were blacklisted too. But thats just rumor.

This is interesting.

This must be a patch for the English/UK version.
My menu screen now shows and Einfield Rifle as opposed to the Thompson. I loaded the old .exe and sure enough the Thompson MG shows up in the menu. Using the CD fix it's an Einfield rifle shows up again.

So I imagine depending what version you are running, you'll get a diffrent splash screen. Other than that saved games load up fine.

I have installed the game properly but when i select "New Game" and then the difficulty level, call of duty does not run! It stays in the main menu.

must be hardware related, maybe check the pagefile size, I believe it says it has to be at least 700mb, check that out.or maybe your graphics card or something, dont know.....im running mine at 1024x768 with all settings to the max .my system is an amd athlon xp 2000 (1.67 ghz) , 512mb ddr , radeon 9700 np (non pro) and windows xp pro. and the games runs smoothlly as butter, no hiccups whatsoever in frames!this game was programed in heaven!

ive had the same problem and found a workaround..


just install the first cd then wenn it asks for 2nd cd (wich wont be accepted..) press cancel .. then exit setup and then wenn it asks if u want it to rollback select NO, now put in the second cd and go to setup->data->main and copy the files to you C:/callofduty/main folder

ive copied the rsrc folder into the callofduty folder 2 , but i dont know if this is required.. but it doesnt hurt so..

now you can play !

Odd, I have nothing but Lite On optical drives and Call of Duty plays perfectly on my PC.

I have read on some back-up forums that CoD is Safedisc3. My CoD is Safedisc2. It even says so on the CDkey sticker in the jewel case. I was able to back it up with Alcohol 120% under the Safedisc2 setting. Even when I scanned it with Clonyxxl it said Safedisc2. Are there CoD's out there that are Safedisc3? I bought my game here in Toronto, Canada.

I saw that on a friends computer. Me my self have firewalls and ad-pup ups, so I can't see all the things that's comes up etc.

But I've tried like GTA-VC trainers and Save files and it came up a login box, and press cancel and the links work.

I don´t understand ur probs,Mayby because i got the german version-And i think itz protectet by Savedisc V3 like the NOCD crack on GCW says.And it is the ENGLISH.
But by the way the savedisc Protection is worth nothin,The BAckup runs better than at SDv2 times.
It would be interesting if u try to copy that thing and try again,if itz works - Don´t give a f++k.

in most cases it works.

I think these guys don´t want to make it too easy for u ,But i guess they want that it is copy able.

Itz better that 10 million people play that game-illigal than 100000 legal-this is advertising for a Programmer crew.

That file should be in ..\cod\main\pak0.pk3

pk3 is just zip compression, so you should be able to open it and check.

I receive an error: Fatal Error: configure.csv not found.

Answer
This error will occur when launching the game with a "No-CD" or "Fixed-CD" crack. This is unsupported by Activision, therefore you would need to remove this.


Uninstall the game and delete the game folder (C:\Program Files\Call of Duty by default). Reinstall to the default folder.


Make sure that you meet the minimum system requirements.


Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.


All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.


Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Settings tab.
3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
5) Click Apply and OK.

You must have done something wrong because the nocd works fine. Try installing from the HD using CDMage or some other program. CD1 will install, then you have to manually copy CD2.

There have been known issues with the latest Cat drivers from ATI, 3.8 and now 3.9 apparantly making the game crash. I was running the 3.8 with no problems with other games but COD kept crashing, I reverted back to 3.7 and it has resolved the problem.

May be worth a try if your running an ATI card, I dont know how specific it is per card but im running a 9800 Pro.

The game is tested and supported with 3.7, if you read the readme file. And you can also see what setting you should use to provent crashing. I'm runnit 3.9 and it works great without crashes.

I personally hadnt tried 3.9 but heard there were issues, I did try 3.8 though and had probs so reverted back to 3.7. Will try 3.9 and see what happens.

I downloaded the game, and the no cd/dvd patch and i still get a insert correct cd error, as well as a binkw 32 dll not found error. 1st off i put the bink file in both windos, and windos 32 sysyem and when i did the error said that its not susposed to be there. so i removed it and re coped it to the apps forlder tried to run the exe file and now it comes up as saying it cant find the binkw 32 file??? whats wrong. Id i click on multi player the game starts up, but when i clik to co/op single player it ask for the correct disc??

I instaled Call of Duty: World at War. I copied Crack in to the catalogue. And when i starded game I had a crash. Error: "Fastfile for zone 'code_post_gfx' is corrupt or unreadable."

I downloaded no-cd from GameCopyWorld and I don't know how to use it (I am stuped :D). Please, I need help.

But it isn't any .nfo file in that file- Call of Duty: World at War v1.0 [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE . In the game folder is a .nfo but there is write only: instal, copy crack and play the game(???).

Read entry IV/1 of the PC Games forum FAQ. Find the installation directory of the game (press Windows-F and enter "CoDWaW.exe" as the filename to search for) and overwrite the files there with the ones in the crack package. That's what the .nfo file also says in other words.

Ok. I has been dealt with that problem. But I has got the next one. Again I has got a crash. New error: Couldn't load image 'gamefonts_pc' Can somebody send me that file, or give me .nfo file with niformation ho to fix that.
