View Full Version : Will any dvd writer work?
Just picked up a Micro advantage superdrive (dvr-+r/-+rw)
I tried to make an image file of my real xenosaga disc using clone cd, and it just came back with an error.... is it the program? user error? or the writer?
You get what you pay for, but if its a dual format drive it should work. I'd try ALCOHOL 120% and burn Simulation to see what it comes up as. And XENOSAGA is a DVD9 game so it wont fit on a regular DVD. That may be your problem. Try another game.

dude, you can't backup a DVD with CloneCD
have you tried using Nero (http://www.ahead.de) or RecordNow-Max for your DVD backups?
You can't burn Xenosaga with either of those progs. It is a dvd9.

**update**
I returned the no name burner, and picked up a Sony DRU510A... and I must say its a world of difference... all my backups are being created flawlessly with alchohol 120.
For those dvd9 games, how many ps2 games are that type? and is there a way to downsample it so they fit on a dvd-r? or are dvd9's impossible to burn?

Only a few games are DVD9 so far. Id say about 6 total worldwide. You can tell by looking at the bottom of the disc, if its gold then you got a DVD9 if its Silver then you got a regular DVD5 and if its blue you got a cd.
