I have a modded ps2 with a magic 4, now my problem is loading backups with codes, it goes to a "updating codes list Please wait" and freezes, if i use the orginal it works fine, any ideas, comments on what i might be doing wrong? Problem game ive tested was Devil May Cry 2.
Thanks agian guys

this is a known problem with the magic 3.x series (and in your case all its clones too)
back when i had magic3.1 on my machines i had the same problem
you can do this (it worked for me)
pick your codes and instead of replacing the ar disc for the game disc just leave in there and let it update the codes - ar should load again (no freezing) then pick the same codes and now replace the disc and the game should load........no "updating code list" screen should appear if it does then most likely you picked different codes/game.
the problem is the updating code list screen......wait......no it's not....... the problem is the stupid chip with the stupid "Z" wire

well, ive tried it with Vice City, and it freezes at the start game with codes enabled Insert disc and press X to start to press O to go back :( If i disable the Z wire you think it would work or would it screw the whole thing up?
Thanks agian foreverything

the "Z" wire is the wire that supposedly lets you use ar/gs, but as you can see is not very reliable
if you remove it you will have no ar/gs support what so ever
try this:
i use to be able to boot my games at the second try......after it froze once (at the updating codes list screen) i would the whole process again and i wouldn't get the "updating codes list" and the game would boot........either this or the first method i told you.
don't know why it doesn't work for you, maybe cause you are using a clone and i was using original chips, don't really know if that matters.
maybe you should change chips.......one of those $20 apple pro chips that people seem to recomend allot
