View Full Version : 5 years of GameCopyWorld

Today 5 years ago GCW was born when the first annoying CD protections had arrived and which made our lives miserable as we were not able to make backup of our CD's. In the 5 years we have seen a lot of different CD protections but none of them has been a serious threat, some are harder than others but in the end there is always a way.

We have to say thanks to all people who supported us by sending files & info this past years, without you it would have taken too much time to roam the internet in search of the files! Much thanks also goes out to all the moderators, past & present, of our FileForums who helped creating a great community of gaming freaks!

Let's see what the next 5 years has installed for us!

Damn, the site has been around that long already? Nice... Still remember when I first found it and got a crack for my Monopoly Tycoon backup. Almost orgasmic when I saw the copy actually worked :D

I'm not gonna complaine...but it's seams that this is the first time ever, people can add negative and possitive about GameCopyWorld and have suggestion.

First I wanna say happy birthday for 5 years and 1 day!
I've got some request.....I think to make it bether and what it is right now....can be defficult but anyway...it's to have more information about the protection of the game. And update the game cover image. There are link to SecuROM and SafeDisc and CD-Check but that information was "new" in 2001 and not realy 2003 and upcomming 2004. Could be nice if you say what version of SafeDisc/SecuROM/"Protection" it is. :D

Just a suggestion.

Interesting, the BDay of GCW is only a day away from my very own BDay. I just now saw this post since its only in the PC games section. Maybe next year it can be an announcement for all forums to see.

BTW Happy Belated BDay GCW!!! :p

That it so not true! I realy think example EA Games knows about this site and the other site, becuase it's not a big underground foundation. No one make a big profit on it. And what are the result, have EA Games change there protection, nope. They have upgraded the SafeDisc level, soon it will be the SafeDisc Fade stuff. But the point is, a big game company, would be aware of all the games that's are releas of the company are also aparing game crack for and warez forms. And if GameCopyWorld provide information what protection the game has, it will not be a form that's provide big company information, becuase they already know what protection the game have. Or they can just download Protection ID :p.

Protection will make it harder and harder buy NOT becuase GCW will provide information about protection, just becuase they are aware of the warez problem! And big protection company are working there as of to make a perfect product. And not just warez problem, they got problems with 1:1 backup tools, like Alcohol 120% and Blindwrite. That's are totaly legal but are are big problem with Game industri!

Right now Starforce 3 are very good protectin and VERY hard to crack and imposible to make a perfect 1:1 copy.

New SecuROM is imposible to make a perfect 1:1 copy but not so hard to crack (becuase most of the crack grops know how to fix it).

What next generation protection has to offer, I have no clue. But we will se goverment fixes between this issues. I think first they have to rewritten the law, second they have to deal with 1:1 copy tools companies. (if it's legaly or not). So much work for goverment means it will take at least 3-4 years before we can see big changes!

Nice friendly tag line, maybe that should be a default tag line for all new users until they change it.........

Yes, GCW is a living legend. Now if only that Mega something or other place would have less pop ups and ad spam.

This may sound pathetic but, the first game I ever backed up that was protected was Diablo II: LoD, I was worried I would have to go buy it again because my disk got so messed up.
Lucky for me, I found GCW and it solved my prob.

THANX!!!!

yea but when they make the backup software ilegel...
and also another totaly different point when will they bring out patches to run all them origanel games i have to run on xp or other op systems ( ie like that mortal kombat 3 i have cost Ģ35 ) witch i cant run wots so ever!! and also i got heaven and hell cost Ģ30 it is crap ( no cd for this at all or fixed exe) will the crap games be stoped when this copy protection is so good and all released will be exelent games !!!!!!!!NOT !!!!!!!!!!

there should be a law for the pulishers to not produce CRAP games AND RIPE COUSTMERS OFF but that will never happen
