And at $3,800 (£2500) for the Sony BDZ-S77, Blu-Ray Recorders are VERY steep.
It is a new high capacity disc that the ps3 will use for games. You can read about it here (http://www.blu-ray.com/info/)
hope they make these new dvd 9 disk in dvd-r formatt for us
dvd-r owners
Pioneer is making -r, so no worries.:)
ya think we gonna need new burners or just fw updates?
It will require a new dual layer burner.
ok thanks for clearing that up bighap
well fick u got to buy a new burner for these and im sure the price tag will range in the 300$'s or higher i may get one later on in the future when the prices get decent i figerd theres only a few dvd9 games on the ps2 and moives i dont mind sutting out all the extras cause i know these disk will be pricey at first

You sure bighap? You didn't need a new burner when they started making 80 minute cd's.
Well in the article is says they will be releasing stanalone and pc burners starting in 2004. Sounds like a new burner will be needed to me.
I can't remember where I read about the ps3 using blu-ray(I think a PSM) and somewhere else too. I'll do some searching.
