if you know for sure that you installed the drive correctly, try the official site of your drive brand for firmware updates. This may help. But caution: messing with the firmware in an incorrect way may cause your drive to not work properly anymore.
Updating firmware on your drive will NOT help you here. CDRWin is a very old piece of software which has been defunct for about 2 years and will NOT recognise any new or even relatively older drives. It wouldn't even recognise my old 12x Plextor CD-R/W when I first got it! Use Alcohol 120% for a 1:1 backup of your PS2 game. Both software and tutorials are available from my site, PS2 Place. (http://www.mjpaul.freeserve.co.uk)
They just released a new version September 10th so how can you say it is defunct?;) 3.9E is the newest version which supports dvd including the Pioneer 106 drive.
Yeah? But I heard they stopped making it ages ago and that's why all those pirate versions were floating about...
Besides, Alcohol is a MUCH better option than that crap...
It is on their official site.:)
I don't use this prog except for ripping audio tracks from cds cause you have better progs like Alcohol.

I always use (the german re-made) cdrwin 5. some people say it's crap but it recognizes my new dvdburner and works like a charm. So why change it huh. it ain't that bad ;)

The German version is crap! I know of some people who just couldnt uninstall it from their systems. All it was was a cross between different burning engins like Disc Juggler and Nero (old nero).
Newer versions of the legit CDRWin are just fine. Hell they practically set the standerd.
