That's because I called Dust and said I'd got one.
The £ price equates to $240.
The competition across the road (Virgin Games) are stocking from 1-Oct and are charging the equivalent of $300.
Total no brainer.

I might have to get myself one of those :D
If anyone is looking to buy one of these, you may also want to consider ordering from Amazon.co.uk: they are doing the bundle silver console bundle for £134.99 with FREE delivery
just search for: Silver Sony PlayStation 2 Console with Extra Controller
just ordered one myself :D
Is anyone in the UK chipping this version yet or do we wait until the minor bugs are ironed out (e.g. the one Dust2Dust found with v1.3.1) ?

green scren can be fixed by the right Scart cable. We never found the fix in v7/v7/v9.
what is the right scart cable?

Full 21 pin Scart connection; even better with the DVD movie switch flicked when you watch a movie.
I have full 21 pin scart cable with movie / game switch on it.
This means u play games with RGB output but movies in composite video output which loses quality. The green screen fix in ps2 means that everything played in RGB quality.
I guess we'll just have to accept the loss in quality :(
besides, anyone who's really bothered over dvd quality should be using a designated dvd player and not the ps2 for movie playback ;)
Why have a device that plays DVD's an then not play dvd's on it u chopper..................
an besides theres a way round it. Turn on ps2 with messiah disabled an use ar2 dvd multiregion as dvd video boot disc. Kills green screen but still plays in rgb..........Just a bit of a hassle compared to having a green screen fix.

Why wood u want the remote if u don't play dvd's on yrs???????

easy ottoman, like i said, anyone who is really interested in getting the best out of the dvd format would probably use a designated dvd unit. you can't honestly regard the ps2 dvd player being comparable with some of the dvd units on the market, look at the cost for starters......
i don't play dvd's on mine, 'cos the playback quality from a ps2 is nothing compared to my dvd unit coupled with decent third party cabling :D
that's why i wouldn't play dvd's on the device....and i'm not going to resort to taunts and heckling ;)

it is better to get a dvd player plus it has extra features such as playing mp3's and vcds. were going a lil off topic dont you think:)

simply for the new remote on/off button, 'cos i don't wanna have to walk across the room to switch it off when the rest of my hi-fi system can all be switched off by remote...kinda defeats the object otherwise :( That was definately the most important thing lacking on the last model, sooo glad they sorted it out :D
