I have been able to back up my dvd movies for quite some time now and havent come across any problems that I couldnt solve on my own. Yet.

But I have been wondering about the extra stuff on the dvd, not the commentary or outtakes. Im talking about the software stuff thats outside of the regular VIDEO_TS or AUDIO_TS folders. These are usually cheesy programs for your PC if you happen to play the movie on your DVD drive.

I notice that after extraction these items are not included and as a matter of fact they do not even show up on any decryption devise. So my curiousity asks me, are these programs ecrypted too or can I just copy and save them onto my HDD, so I can burn them onto the DVD-R that I have currently shrunk?

I have wondered it but I havent tried it. I just wanted to know if anyone else has yet. So I wont waste a blank without asking first.

Hmm, I would imagine that you would create your AUDIO_TS folder and VIDEO_TS folder as normal, copy the programs over from the dvd and leave them outside the folders on your hard drive, then burn everything to a disk.
If they were protected by the CSS (which I dont think they are), then you could use AnyDVD to rip them from the dvd as the other rippers dont see them as you mentioned.

I have successfully burned the movie HOLES to dvdr with the extra DVD rom files on it. Thus making the backup a more complete backup.

Dvd Decrypter for movie, and just copy and paste for the extra stuff.
