dvd 2 vcd 2 svcd, possible or not?

i have been successfully been backing my dvd's into vcd format (yes antiquated i know!!!but its all i can afford as yet)using dvdx 2.2,my question is;is it possible to convert mpeg 1(vcd) from my HD or disc to mpeg 2 (svcd) using the same program ?or is there another program available which will do this simply and reletively quickly?

Just so you know, your video quality will not be improved. Try TMPGEnc.
