What happens when the magic 3 is taken out? Does the PS2 work normally then?

thank you for you reply charlie_ps2> No it still does the same thing i did notice that a few months ago it started acting up like i would boot up the game and nothing happens but when i hit reset it worked i thougth it was the magic chip and now it does it all the time with out the chip installed. I have a feeling that the board is fried it might have got overheated or something it was only 8 months old the system and chip

hey charlie_ps2
I was reading on antoher web site and came across the main board fuse. If that fuse went out would that cause my video to stay black but everything esle turns on the drive reads the disk and the power light comes on i dont know if that would be on a different cicruit or not just wondering. and its a version 7

i did check all the bios legs and nothing is wrong with them. I cant seem to figure this one out. everything looks fine
Theres lots of fuses on the motherboard (21 I think)
Get a continuity tester and check em all.
Have just checked link on sticky (fuse list) an it don't work. Just go on google an search for ps2 motherboard fuses an you'll find a diagram.
