View Full Version : does the mod chip allow a new dvd drive

my xbox is a first gen and the drive sucks it is broken and i want to know if a mod chip will allow me to just buy a new dvd rom from like best buy and put in in to read games and movies and everything instead of buying a 100 drive from microsoft.

I don't think so, but I mite be wrong.
Why don't ya search eBay for a drive. People sell parts all the time.

Hes talking about a PC DVD-Rom if hes getting it from BestBuy. :rolleyes:

Well yes and no. You need to a working XBox DVD-Rom to use a PC DVD-Rom with the XBox.

It isn't the chip that allows the new DVD-Rom to work.
