Hi

After reading many threads and advice here i went for the new apple pro.

PROBLEM!!-

v7 PAL SCH39002

I had a clean install - anti static, low wattage solder iron - .25mm enamelled copper (approx 30awg) and 24 AWG power, etc etc.. but have now lost the start up browser - ie no 'floating electrons' and no sound. Removed the chip - still the same

Checked the AV leads, checked motherboard fuses (1-15??) continuity fine on all

Legs on soldering area C (http://www.apple-chip.com/index/applepro.html) all clear (continuity between 11 &13 but circuit board routes this way?) The only difference i did notice to this diagram was this chip (which does??BIOS??) had all legs whereas on my v7 legs 13,14,15 and the opposite side are just soldered pads on the board and no leg comes down from the chip.

RESET light and EJECT functions work, tray ejects, disc skips around when loaded for a good 10-15 secs.

ANY SUGGESTIONS as I have a queue of people after this mod here in NZ

are you saying all you get is a bad screen? or no screen at all?

No screen - PS2 (now without chip) turns on by either EJECT or RESET, Disc Turns for 10-15 secs then stops. Blue screen on TV (as though no leads were plugged into the AV). (Yes ive checked the TV!!) No sound to my amp either

The Sony splash screen doesnt even load.

Any ideas what would have fragged it - i just checked the ribbons - all oK - i cannot find anything obvious on the board or electrically

Im stumped

Nope found nothing, tested along with multimeter etc. so ended up doing my own 'swap trick' - but now got a new v9 SCPH50002!! Arrgghh!

Hoping now apple can do some magic or maybe the messiah might flash down what i need!!

Thanx for your info tho:rolleyes:

I would then have suggested checking fuses

NOTE: Whenever you install a chip and it acts out of the ordinary. Then you uninstall it and it still acts out of the ordinary. That means YOU messed up somewhere.
