Here are some recordings of the old v1-v8 fan compared to the new v9 aka SCPH50000.

Can you buy a v9 fan and attach it to your v1-7?

My V7 is more quiet than BOTH......

I don't know what the deal is, but this V7 is so quiet that you cant even hear it.....

Maybe. The system itself isn't widespread enough yet. We will see.

My fan is also very quiet, but you can hear noises when I play a CD based game.

Hey Bighap, does that version 9 have the improved DVD-R support? Has anyone tried a Messiah 2 in one of those yet?

That is what is claimed, but some of the same lasers have been found in the v7. The current Messiah 2 fw 1.30 does not work with the v9. The M2 team's first production run of the 1.31, which supports the v9 didn't turn out. It shouldn't be long until we see it though, as their developmental 1.31 worked fine.

Thanks man, interesting. I'd like to try out the supposed new and improved DVD-R support.
