View Full Version : How to backup Gothic 2?
Guys, I used CloneCD 4.2.0.2 to backup Gothic 2, but it does not work, it fails the CD verification BEFORE it starts the installation.
I have a Lite-On 52x/24x/52x CD-RW with latest firmware, and Lite-On CD-RWs are known to be good at making 1:1 copies, but...I cannot get Gothic 2 to install from backups.
Original CDs do work though.

There are other mothods you can use to burn your game, like Alcoholer Scanner and Alcohol Burning Software, for more info on this click here (http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43666)
The best thing to keep your CD safe is to use the No-CD Patches/Fixes from GameCopyWorld!

If I don't remeber wrong this question has been ask many times...and I think the same answer haven't changes....I think it was...it's you can't do a perfect backup.... if you don't belive me...try to use search button and you might find the answer!
Well, here is the problem, I DID install from the backup ONES, and played the game just fine when I was using my DVD-ROM (it cannot read subcodes), and it installed just fine. The game dtected the backed up CD just fine when I tried to launch it.
Then I format, and now I try to install using my DVD-ROM and... :D it doesn't work! No scratches on CDs at all!
CD-RW does cannot install it either!

I did have a CD-rom problem...the thning was...that I have first..of all, another CRAP cd-rom installed in the computer.. how now Idea why it is so... but this was so for my...becuase I have a crap CD-rom....and have crap IDE cable for harddriver and for the crap CD-rom.... the perfect new CD-RW didn't work for 100%... so you might change IDE-cables and look for you CD-rom....if it's works batter...or mount with Alcohol tools...:)
It ain't the cables, because I did not touch them, and it DID work fine starting the first time, but not anymore!
Alcohol tools? Want me to leave a 700Mb imega on my hard drive? Nah...
Were you implying that I have crap hardware?
