what is the suspected problem is original ps2 backups boot - cd and dvd, in *ps2 mode* and when the chip is turned off, and ps1 originals and backups all boot, but ps2 backups dont boot, cd or dvd. i cant try gs2 because i dont have one....can someone toss me an idea

Possibly you are confusing PS1 mode (hold Reset until blue light comes on) with switch off mode (hold Reset for 5 secs till electrons whirl).

lol, nah charlie - ps2 mode = tap power button and ps1 mode = hold button for a few seconds and off mode = hold until i hear sound (thats how i always did it on my others,......

edit, it boots ps1 originals and dvd movies in ps2 mode as well

Check the Messiah2 Reset wire.
For PS1 mode just hold RESET button till blue light comes on. "A few seconds" and you run into Switch off mode.

but ps2 is my problem, ps1 works fine.......i redid bios wires and im rebuilding as we speak, i didnt even look at the reset wire

any other suggestions? reset wire is okay.. and i get the same thing. ps2 mode boots original ps2 games, original ps1 games and dvd movies
ps1 mode boots ps1 originals and backups
switch off mode boots all originals and dvd movies

Maybe your English wasn't clear "... original ps2 backups boot...".

is there a diagram out there saying what each pin or point that we use to install the messiah chip is used for?, like pin a, what does that do....if u cant give that info out ill understand, but im just curious....i like that kind of stuff

None of the modchip makers give this stuff out! A lot of people sort of know. The purpose of the wires is to pick up signals, interpret them and send something to do back to the PS2.
The E wire on Messiah is known. for example, to have to do with media recognition.
R&W are for BIOS chip enablement; SCEx is known to be "fooled you" signal for PS1.
But the exact use of the wires would have to be accompanied by a description of the data they read/write and that's kept secret.
