Hi, I was wondering if the Liteon 52246S or the Sony CRX-220E OEM is any good for backing up new games like Frozen Throne? Which one would you pick out of those two? Thanks for the help its greatly appreciated!

You should check the "Supported Drives" - Section on WWW.ELBY.ORG !!! You need a cd-writer with two sheeps at EFM Encoding to make perfect Safedisc2 backups.
Making perfect backups of Securom *New protected is impossible.

I think the LiteOn will be the better one.

yes, the LiteOns are known to be excellent drives for backing up.
