Hi everyone :)
As you can see, I'm new. I would like very much if one of you can give me a link to a decent Xenosaga movie video extractor. I have the game and I totally love it. I want to extract the cut scenes, movies and stuff and burn them on a CD so I can watch them anytime instead of playing out the game again ^_^ , also, maybe make a music video :)
Can anyone help me? I would really appericiate it. Thanks for looking. Bye :D

No one knows of a motio ncapture/FMV/movie extractor for Xenosaga for PS2? Man how did those guys extract the cutscenes from the Japanese version then? Man this bites, you know.
I hope someone reads this and can give me an extractor program. I would like that much :D
You are probably not going to find someone that has the extractor....
Kalisto was able to "rip" this game because they have some of the top programmers in the scene.....
They "supposedly" didn't make the rip kit published (or the means they used to down-sample the movies) because of the fear that $ony would increase the protection on games....
Unfortunately... You are out of luck as of right now.....(at least as far as I know...)
There is always the option of using a video capture card, but that would require playing from what I have heard is a very long game over again.

Im no expert or claim to be, but arnt the ps2 movie formats the same as the ps1? .str? I havnt checked or researched but from some of the early ps2 games I saw were still in .str format.
Anyways if this IS the case, which I highly doubt, there are a few programs that can rip the movies. I have cds of my fav ps1 rpgs with all their movies such as ffvii, ffviii. ffix. Anyways the program is PSXMC I know it works for ps1 for sure. Does anyone know the format for ps2 games??
Btw im currently playing xenosaga also and finding it amazing, i love the lengthy cutscenes they are breathtaking, i would love to be able to rip them all out when im done playing!

Hi guys.
Hey Afterlife, I agree man. The cutscenes are really amazing. Sure makes the future of gaming look so exciting. The story is superb also. Where are you now in that game? I'm at the part where... um.. Geez I forgot where I am. Right now I'm playing the Polker minigame so I can get somem oney and I bougt all of the artwork. I'm also drawing the characters :D FF7-9 were really great.
Now for Bighap, what's a video capture card and where can I get one?
As for BG, man Kalisto has some good programmers working for them.
Well I guess I can't get to make music videos or have the cutscenes added to my "archive" unless I get the video capture card. Bighap, I'm counting on you buddy :)
See you guys later.
Capture cards allow you to capture video from a tv, vcd, camcorder, etc, and transfer it to your pc. There are just capture cards and there are also capturtre cards which might include a video card or even a tv tuner, so there is a large price range depending on what options you want. You can get a capture card just about anywhere. Just do a search at any online pc store or even ebay and will find em.

Im sure there will be an extractor soon enough! Problem with the capture cards is the quality wont be as good as if it had been ripped!
Does anyone know what format ps2 games are played in? Are they .str like ps1? If so Im sure we can still rip em.

Ok I did a lil researching and talked to a few people online. Anyways the format for ps2 is .pss. I met a few people who *claim* to have ripped games before and sent me to some japanese website. Anyways i dont read japanese so couldnt tell which program to dl, wouldnt help anyways seeing as the program more than likely would have been in japaneese.
So anyways turns out there are english translation versions of ps2 movie ripping software at megagames.
http://www.megagames.com/ps2/ps2_utils_graphics.shtml
Ok i dled them and the one called ps2 movie player has an install and 2 other files.
"you must register the
plug-ins in Windows. Click RUN and then type each command...
>regsvr32 c:\Program Files\ps2play\ps2splitter.ax
>regsvr32 c:\Program Files\ps2play\ps2pcmdecoder.ax"
Anyways seeing as I dont know near enough about computers to test this out or see if its safe I thought id throw this up at someone on this forum to test it out see if it works!!
The other program claims to be a program with tools to beable to rip the mpeg2 and wav files from the ingame movies and then be able to put them back together to create say a vcd/svcd or divx etc etc.... anyways if someone wants to test these out that would be great!!

Kaiser is back with some news.
I did some poking around and the Xenosaga DVD disc has no .pss files. I did something on a hunch and it came as I suspected. I checke dout my Final Fantasy X disc and that has no .pss files also yet I found an extractor that works for FFX and only FFX because when you open the program up it has all of the FMVs in a dropdown list. It extracts the video file as a MOV file I think and it extracts the audio file as a WAV file. You then have to use another program to convert the movie file into an AVI file then you have to use another program, like Virtual Dub, to combine the WAV file and the new AVI file. Alot of work huh guys? Well what we need to do is find a Xenosaga version of this program. Let's start searching everyone :D Let's help eachother out YAHOO!!!!!
speaking of Xenosaga.
Does the (US NTSC) Xenosaga DVD9 version run ok on a PAL V3 ps2 with magic 3.1 chip?

Awww....... no new replies? Man this bites.....
I am lookng to extract the files, has anyone ever found an extractor for the movies. The threads here seem to be a year old and I haven't found anything in searches.
Ok I know that some of you want to have the xenosaga movies pretty bad
here is a link to another forum that will give you most fo the answers
http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55165
Downlaod the file in the first post.If you continue to read on soemone posts an fmv list. You need to save this and load it up in the program that you just downloaded. This will extract the movies for you in mpg format. NOTE:They do NOT have sound.
There is another process by which you can also get these cinematics and you could try and get the sound. But I warn you it is a complete waste of time. One of the 3 minute fmvs which I added the sound to was 1.5 GB. Thats way too much for a 3 minute movie anyways that method is here
http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showpost.php?p=761687&postcount=17
If you go to the main site of that forum (NGEMU) you can go to the downloads section, and under ps2 you can download ps2play. With this program open up the fmvs and they should have sound. However on my computer the sound comes out very very messed up.
This is a great thing if you want them with no sound, however if you want sound, and most of you probobly do.......dont even bother just give up right now and buy the dvd with the fmvs off ebay it will save you a lot of time and frustration
(none of these methods are my own I just found them)
