Hello. I am getting ready to purchase an internal DVD writer. My question is what kind should I get, considering I want to back up DVD's I currently have. Thanks

The Pioneer 106 is a good buy - although it can be a bit expensive at the moment as it's only new. The Pioneer drives are highly recommended and the new 106 has the bonus that it can write to both plus and minus formats instead of just the minus format that the 105 and below write to.
+r media costs a little more. use -r if possible. Look here (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers) to see what formats your dvd player supports.

dvd burner
I'm selling a sony dru 500A in mint condition all software and manuals in the box and 35 ritek dvd-r's g-04 silver top for $250 + shipping.
click here for specs (http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/sony-dru-500a/)
Get the CenDyne DVR-105. It is exacutly the same drive as the Pioneer A05, but cheaper.
Do a search in www.pricegrabber.com or the like
Some webites even sell the cenDyne as a pioneer 105.
I bought a refirbished unit for under $180. They normaly go for $200-240.
Old prices there. You can get an A05 from www.harmonycomputers.com for $209. This is where I bought my A04 from. Good store.
Edit: Price drop. They now sell it for only $189! Hell of a deal there.
