Hey, i don't have a ps2 with a chip that can play DVD-R yet and the only way i can do my back ups is by ripping the games.

It doesn't look like i'll ever be getting a new ps2 with a messiah 2. Not any time soon anyway.

So can you tell me some tools i can use to rip ps2 games and put them onto CD-R

No problem. Good idea by saving up. It is worth every penny.

Ahh but will it be.... because how long do u think PS3 will be off release though.

Am i not better off just waiting for that or is that going to be a few years?

Don't wait around for the ps3. It won't be here until late 2004 or 2005.

If you're saving up... just get the chip and get it installed. $75 is a lot cheaper than $250.

I still need to buy a new PS2 as this one will be dead i think if you take out the killer Neo chip.

Any chance of it being ok to read stuff or not? It has a bit of trouble reading now.

How much are new drives for the ps2? Or would it not be worth it?

Don't mod it if you are already having reading problems. You can get a second hand laser, not sure what version ps2 you have, for around $50-$80. The only way to get a brand new laser is through Sony, which after all the costs isn't worth it. I personally don't like the idea of using a second hand laser, but that is just me. I would take out the Neo and sell it on ebay.

Sell the PS2 or the Neo chip?

I would actually rather keep the ps2 if i could so i could give it to my sister or something.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I meant sell the ps2. You can't sell mods on ebay. But if you want to keep it that is your decision.

Sorry, I thought he meant that his machine could still read DVD media. Oops.
