GTA 3, how do you start the race ?

Hi,

I'm new to these forums, and quite new to GTA3.
I think i have found the race track,
behind 8-balls, well it looks like a dirt track round
some old scrap school busses.

Anyway, what do i have to do to get a race to start ?

Others have mentioned this racing,
but i dont know how to start it.

Ermmm, there was no Dirt Track Racing like that in GTA 3... I think you are confusing it with the Dirt Track Racing in Vice City.

Well, i might be.
I'm not familiar with other similar games.
Would this other game have a garage that does repairs
on wrecks put into it?
Would this other game have a 'Pay n Spray' ?
Would this other game have burnt out wrecks that
disappear if you manouvre them off the screen for
a second or two?
Cos that sounds like GTA3 to me.
But there could be other games that are closely similar,
that i dont know.

It could be a similar game that i dont know about cos
this writer mentions 'turismo' and i dont know what
that is. I get the impression its a place. He also
mentions 'rhino-code' i dont know what that is either.

I just thought it was me being unfamiliar with GTA3,
but i spose it could be a different game.

Is there a bit in GTA3 where cars are going to race ?

vice city is the sequel to gta3 , as for turismo that is a totaly diffrent game then gta3 and vice city , the name is gran turismo 3 , so u might have it as gt3 not gta3

Maybe he has got it in the wrong place ?

Yes, thats GTA3 being described there... Why do I feel that you are trying to be sarcastic? ;)
The Turismo Race(s) that Hippo speaks of, are on the very first Island of GTA3. You take part in them by doing missions for the Diablo's... Answer the phone.... :p
Thinking about it, the closest you can get to Dirt Track Racing in GTA3 are the special Hummer missions that are scattered on each island... and in those missions, the only racing you do is against the clock.
Suprised you havent heard of GTA: Vice City...

Cheers, yes i thought it was GTA3 also.

But as i am unfamiliar with this range of games,
i can see that there might be similar games along the
same lines, maybe thats what 'Vice City' is or 'Grand
Turismo 3' these i don't know.

Yes i am still on the first island of GTA3, so i am
glad to hear that there is something to it, and i will
take those missions a bit more seriously. Ive been just
playing around and i didn't realise that they would
'enable' other sections of the game.
(ive only recently found the zombies tunnel, thats how
new i am to this!) And i found a crazy jump through a
wall by an alley-way, the alley-way where the gun is
halfway along in a back-yard.

I take it you mean 'Hungry Hobo' when you say 'Hippo'
there is a game - hungry hippo - you may have put a
typo!

I will try to do missions for the Diablos to get to
the races, just to get one of these motors.

I am not being sarcastic, nor trying to be.
In fact i was concerned that you thought so.
I re-read my posts to see why you should say that.
If i had seen anything that looked sarky to me,
i would have changed it. (edited) and said so,
and said why.

And i wonder if i can get to the light-house ?
I walked along the over-hanging rock, in case i might
see something ... maybe a causeway at low tide ...
anything ... but no i cant see any way to the light-
house. I am wondering if there is a little boat put
somewhere out of the way, maybe a row-boat or motor
boat hiding somewhere.

Maybe i have to do a mission before it will appear ?

This game and PS2 was bought new, there are no bits
of paper missing, the maps are awful, and there isn't
a sort of overview or outline of what to do.
Maybe thats supposed to be part of the game. :)
