What do I need to know?

Im just about to get myself a DVD writer and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what else I need to make back-ups of PC games? software and so on.

And also a kind word of advice here. When you start a thread off like this mabey you could try including a bit more info in the title. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW? Mabey something about what it is you actually want help with? What do i need to know can cover so maney things expecially if you dont know a lot about much ;) .... (just a thought)
