Does anyone have any experience trying to clone CD + G karaoke disks? Whenever I try using CloneCD or Roxio, I can hear the audio off the new CD's, but the lyrics do not appear on screen.

Try using alcohol 120, it works perfect for cd+g, it has variable settings (datatype) for backing up different types of cd's including karaoke.

use clonecd, rip the subs, and burn the subs (+96)

Tried Alcohol120%. It did have a CD+G Keraoke setting, but gave me an error saying my Burner couldn't burn this type of disk.

podunkviller: What do you mean "rip the subs"?

subchannel data. not all burners support it, sadly. nero can do this as well.

Did you manage to back-up your CD+G's ???

I'm having the same problem. Just downloaded trial CloneCD. My Plextor PX-W4824A is supposed to work, but it's only reading the disc as Audio.

I read that maybe I should disable other drivers if they are VIA or INTEL ??? but I wouldn't know where to look.

Thanks for any help

Strummer:

No such luck. I tried CloneCD first, to no avail.

Podunkviller seems to have it down, but his instructions were not detailed enough for a neophyte like me.

I haven't been able to find a step-by-step instruction list anywhere.

:D Wahey, I managed it.

In CloneCD I used "Read to Image file"

Then of the 5 icons, I used "Mulimedia Audio CD"

I read that it's best to use a slow speed, so I used 16x for both Read & Write.

I used a Phillips CD-R80 Silverspeed 32x to copy onto.

Tested the disc in the Karaoke player & it's perfect.

I'm using a Plextor 48/24/48. Are you sure your drive can do CD+G? There's a list on the Goldenhawk website & probably CloneCD one too???

Good luck!

Hi, I'm a new member. In the past only a few readers and writers were capable of reading and writing CD+G text. The best of these wer SCSI Devices and Plextor and Yamaha were the best. Now however, I believe that the latest version of CloneCD Ver4 will copy them. GoldenHawks CDRWin will also copy them but needs the correct hardware.

Cheers
