View Full Version : PAL Booster
I've read about a PAL Booster on the net that can enable an ntsc-to-pal conversion on your PS2.
I also noticed a Playstation 1 Pal booster for $9 US and a PS2 Pal Booster for $61 US.
Anyway i was wondering if a playstation 1 pal booster works for PS2?
If it did that would be great cos i could save a few bucks.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

your cheapest option is to apply the pal fix inside the ps2 (1 wire link 2 points together)
ntsc-pal converters cost about £20 here in uk
what you are talking about im not sure
u got a link
Yeah, that seems kinda odd that ps1 costs so much less than ps2 one when essentially it should be the same thing.
Yeah, I go with dust on this one.
By adding a link to the motherboard u can force the ps2 to play all games in either PAL or NTSC depending on whether u link a point on the motherboard to 3.5v or 0v.
Costs as much as a couple of cm of wire costs and perfect results every time.

One reason for the big price difference could be that the PS2 version is compatable with PS2, PSone, Game cube, VCR and DVD players, while the cheaper one is only compatible with Psone (And, i hope, PS2)
I'd love to get this internal pal fix your talkin about but finding that kind of stuff here (australia) is pretty hard. Copyright laws are getting pretty tough here and this Pal booster is VERY VERY rare. I don't know much about installing stuff on my PS2 either.
Does anyone have a PAL Booster for PSone that they use on PS2???
Are there any other external devices that convert a signal from NTSC-to-PAL?????

the playstation cheap booster will work fine
as long as your tv does 60hz
with the expensive 1 your tv would still need to except 60hz,its price increase is due to more input/output lead options
ps1 and ps2 leads are the same :)

I bought an NTSC to PAL convertor from Maplins and that did it for my PAL only TV.

So this little wire job inside the ps2 will
Make your ps2 PAL and NTSC?
Or make your ps2 turn into a NTSC? (vice versa)?

Like I said, Maplins do an NTSC to PAL convertor. Ignore me if you wish, though!
If you do the Colour Fix in your PS2 (all documented in the Messiah 2 Diags www.messiah2.com), then forcing PAL out of the PS2 won't cure the 60Hz problem as Dust points out. Your PAL only TV must be capable of resolving 60Hz for this fix to work.
the Maplins box is quite happy with the 50 Hz. TV. You plug it in for NTSC games and unplug it for PAL games. dead simple.

Thanks for the help charlie_ps2.
I checked out the converter on www.maplins.co.uk and noticed it was the same as the one in one of my earlier posts (in this thread). It was for around the same price too.
Is there anything cheaper than this???
