I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would let me put multiple psx backups on a blank DVD disc. So when i play it on my ps2 im able to pick which game id like to play. That way i can save a few CD's. Well if nothing like this is out maybe this will be the idea that someone will use to make such a program.

There is a program that can supposedly do this but I think it was BG who tried this and had no luck.

ps2 multi cd games on dvd i would think is possible

ps1 multi cd games on dvd i dont think will work
to load a ps1 game the ps2 goes into ps1 mode, when in ps1 mode the laser will read cd only (my opinion)

reason ps2 backups need cd/dvd points to tell it what media to read, ps1 games use scex only as they are all cd, my guess is if ps2 loads a ps1 game it will tell the laser to read cd only

i like to see someone prove me wrong as it will be very useful

I think Dust is right.
But still an interesting idea Nightfall.

I was actually thinking the same thing. Would need to be a PSX emulator for the PS2, that would work. This is possibly something that would work with the knife trick, I think.

I have just found one program that says that it can run multiple PS2 games on one DVD. They do go out of there way in the readme file though to express that it may not work. I will post more on my results with this program after some testing.

I have given up on this program for now. Tried it with PS2CDGen and loading files directly into record now. Tried booting behind GS2 and Codebreaker. If anyone else want to give it a go it can be found here (http://www.ps2collector.co.uk/ps2jsp/search.jsp?search=selector)

Might take some time but I am slowly getting some where with this. If I load just the system.cnf, main.elf, and games.txt into ps2cdgen then all works ok.

One step closer again. Did some messing around with CDvdGean and got a bootable dvd, as apposed to the cd that I got to boot with PS2CDGen. Only problem is that when a game is selected it goes to the browser screen. One problem I think that I have is in the disc I am creating now there are 2 executable PS2 files, although there is room for more, and the volume information in CDvdGen has room for the one. The method I used was to create the image using CDvdGen with the file extension .000, cahnged the .000 ti .img and burned using RecordNow. I have tried using iml2iso but have not found a version that works at all. If anyone who knows anything about this stuff, or even if you don't, could give me some ideas it would be appreciated.

Maybe one day I will get this thing to work. It's not really all that important of a program though because once you add up th price of the 7 or 8 Cds that could be fit onto a DVD the price difference is not that great. Only reason why I am even trying it is something to do in my frre time. Also remember that this is a player for PS2 games. As Dust said I do not see any likely way to put PSX games on a DVD. About the only way it could be done is to write a PSX emulator for the PS2.

I spent some time trying this in the past, with no joy in the end :(

I would be interested to read your findings in your quest :)

Surely something like this is possible, it just has not had the time & effort spent on it. Keep up the good work Headly :)

With CDs being so dirt cheap wouldn't it be cheaper to stick with them?

Yeah they are. But theres people like us that has dvd burners and would really appreciate just pressing a few buttons and choosing the game we want on a dvd to play. Rather then turning the ps2 off switching the game then turning it off again. And plus no more keeping track of all those cd games.

It works out to be about the same cost to put multiple CD games on one DVD as it would to just put them on CD. After doind a little research I have found that there is information within the game itself that identifies the game as CD or DVD based. Some one would have to create a patch tool to change this information to play CD games on a DVD. I have given up on this project for now as I have no clue what so ever how to do this.
