View Full Version : Bf1942 RTR doesnt start..

After the videos the game just doenst start, the sound is going in the background but its all black..

I have the 1.31 patch and FLT's crack..
If I dont patch it to 1.31 then it works but all the online servers play 1.31...

This is just a wild guess, but do you have a firewall like ZoneAlarm ? Every time I update the game, Zonealarm tends to try to pop up a dialog asking whether it's ok for the (changed) bf1942 executable to access the internet. When this happens, I get the same problem : black screen (dialog is invisible) and looks like a lock up. In reality the program is waiting for an answer to that hidden dialog. Try shutting down your firewall and see if that helps.

I dont have a firewall, and it shouldnt matter, the game shouldnt try to connect when its started, just the multiplayer part, right?

go to a battlefield site and search!

Hint: 'renderer.allowallrefreshrates'

and if you have the chance: try a different monitor!

a friend of mine has some tft or lcd (don't know) and has exactly the same problem (blank screen but music plays).
this is definately monitor-related, as with an 'old-style' crt monitor everything works ok.

Well if you don't have ZoneAlarm then no that won't be the problem. But rest assured that I have the exact symptoms you describe and that ZoneAlarm is the one that made me almost tear my hair out in frustration :D Incidentally, if you ever install a firewall you'll be AMAZED how many games try to get on the internet as soon as you start them, even in single player ! :D

I have already tried that it its not the problem..
And the monitor is fairly new so it shouldnt be a problem..

And as I said, it works if I dont install the 1.31 patch..
