Anyone used this mod chip before?
Reading what it says on easybuy2000 it looks an ok mod chip.
Wondering if anyone has used it
EDIT: Just read Charlies post and he gave it 9 and a half rating.
Still would like to know what others think though

If you got the cash, why not get it?
Its got all the extra features and stuff like that
If you dont care about extra features and just want a good reliable modchip then get a Messiah 2 Pro.
Its really down to your choice
I would say that if you want to save about $30, really don't care about being able to boot PS2Reality(a divx player for PS2) from the memory card, and don't care about having macrovision disabled then go with the messiah 2. DMS3 is just a nice toy that works well. Messiah 2 has been proven to be the most reliable chip out there. I by no means am being negative to the DMS3. Its just not really worth the extra money to most people.

hmmm, So it could still have a few problems even in the version 2
I think i'll go with the messiah 2 but i just don't have £250 yet and i don't want to try do it myself because i might mess it up.
Is it easy to install them? Well to solder them i mean.
And if i put it in the ps2 i have now would i have to do anything with the laser?

It ain't easy to solder in a mod.
If you have no experience is modding, don't try and install. Unless you are willing to reck your ps2.
Get a pro to install it and you won't have any problems.
I have not been able to check out the DMS3 with many of the games that it failed for Charlie_PS2. It does boot GTA3, Xenosaga, anything that I have stuck in it so far. I have not tried it with anti-mod games, because I di not have any. Also it passes a game for booting a bit faster than my Messiah 2 did. I also checked it out with Splinter Cell and it works 100%.

the mod chip wont hurt the laser, but if you have a version 2, i doubt putting a Messiah 2 in it would be a good idea.
get a new V7 if you can, pre-installed by someone...

Rox, this is the only spot that I can see where you would get that he had a version 2 PS2. I believe that what he means here is problems is the version 2 DMS3.

That doesn't help me bud as that's for US Consoles aint it?
It is there. Scroll about half way down the page or just go here (http://www.freedomlives.com/ps2_version_identification.htm)
I'd take M2 all the way :). I still have my M1 in my V4R PS2 and it hasn't failed a boot yet! They are very reliable modchips and personally, I'd keep the spare cash, and buy some DVD-R with it! Not only that, but it looks like the programmers have obviously taken more time and care with the M2 than the DMS team. Probably because the DMS team can just write patches but what good is that to the people who spend all that cash on them? You should expect better really, so I'd go Messiah 2 and keep the change!
I just don't like the fact that the DMS3 people made all kinds of exorbitant claims.
It's like Dr. Evil says... "He used to make outrageous claims, like that he was the queen of Belgium, or that he invented the question mark."
DMS3 was claimed to play movies directly, to wash your car, and to do all kinds of other ****. In reality, it's ... a Messiah2 competitor for twice the money.
Bleh.

Spot on Gurm. ;) . Take M2 all the way...
I'll soften this blow a little...
Apparently, _IF_ you have a DMS3, _AND_ you have the PS2Reality player (newest version 1.28e), _AND_ the moon is in the fifth house of Jupiter, _AND_ it is the dawning of the "Age of Aquarius"...
_THEN_ you _MIGHT_ be able to play movies from a player stored on a memory card. Maybe. Kinda. Sometimes.

PS2Reality works perfectly from the memory card, everytime. There are also other applications being made to be booted from the memory card. Pukklink is already set to boot from the card. As far as the price goes it is overpriced but I am sure that it will come down with time. Only thing I don't really like about the chip is having to have the controller in your hand if you wish to boot anything but a ps2 game.
Ahh so the vaunted memory boot functions DO work. Interesting. Now if they can fix the compatibility problems maybe they'll be a contender... oh and the price has to come WAY down.
