Could you use a USB to USB cable to link your XBoX to your PC or firewire port etc? if you didn't have a broadband connection? Just a thought...

sorry but no.
the xbox would not know what to do if you tried this. maybe if some one developed some software for this purpose it may work but not yet also you don't need a broadband connection. all you need is a pc NIC (network) card and a crossover cabble.
pc world approx £10.00

I have seen USB NIC cards. They plug into a USB port on your PC making it a NIC. From there you can get a crossover cable and run that to your XBox.

B/c the USB-NIC is on the PC side, it will act as a notmal NIC and there for the XBox will think is just a normal network link.

You will however will be limited to 4m/s unless your are running USB2.0.
