Hey, Can i ask how much damage do you think a Neo chip will have done to my ps2 in 2 years?
I want to get a new one but can't afford a new ps2 to get it chipped.
Could i get this one rechipped and not have any problems?
And if i would have problems what would they be?
CD/DVD Drive break or something? If it is that could i get a new drive fitted and not have problems?
2 years? Most people's lasers would have already died in that time. You could mod what you have but very soon you will need a replacement laser, as you shouldn't have much life left. You can get one from www.modchip-sbox.com. I personally would sell your ps2 as is with a few games and just buy a new ps2.

will the newer chips damage the ps2
Nope, any chips aside from neo's are harmless.
No mate they won't, unless you get another crappy Neo chip!
If you want to get your console chipped, get a no swap chip like a Messiah 2 or the new DMS3 chip, which I hear is very good. Whatever you do, AVOID Magic chips like the plague as they have difficulty with some very popular titles, e.g.: GTA: Vice City etc... and clone versions of Messiah chips etc... as they are not as good a quality and will ruin your pleasure. So you can't go wrong with an authentic Messiah 2 or DMS3 chip.
Hope this helps...

19$ i got from a broken ps2 that would not power up so i figerd the laser was not the death of that ps2
For what it's worth...
I got a PS2 ... a year and a half ago, close to two years now.
It's a version 4 - GT3 edition.
Immediately installed a Neo2.5+DVD in it.
Have used it ... not extensively but moderately ... in that time.
Recently switched the Neo for an Apple.
All games, including DVD+R copies, run flawlessly.
Luck of the draw, that's all it is.

P.S. Anyone who can hook me up cheaply with a laser for when this crappy V4 finally goes... pm me!
