There are devices available that do just that, but I use a homemade rig that connects 2 PSX shock controllers to the Parallel printer port (I have a USB printer anyway) The driver is called Direct Pad Pro, Awesome rig!! I used and old control port deck from a broken PSX to build the adapter and the Memory card port also works with a driver called Playsaver to download save files on the computer. Works excellent with ePSXe and It also works good on Project64 as a N64 control, there is 16 buttons you can assign in analog mode! I have Z assigned to the Left stick button!
I use a Rockfire PSX to USB converter that works very fine, both Analog and Digital. There's also a forcefeedback function with it.
Here are some products LINK (http://www.rockfire.com.tw/new%20rockfire/pcproduct.htm) :D
