Yesterday I recieved Xenosaga but it's impossible to start. I tried nearly everything but it wont work. Neither Game Shark or Action Replay makes it work. Now I'm really down and dön't know what to do :/
any clues for me what might work!?
i have a PAL V7 PS2 with Magic 3.1 inside
The DVD is ok, my PC can read it with no problems, is there an option to connect a PC DVD Drive with the PS2 !?

No there is no way to do this. The Magic chips don't like dvd9 very much. It will take some time but you should be able to get it to work eventually.

argghh i tried it about 20 times now and it wont work, i fear i have to organive the DVD-5 version, buts that is kinda hard in germany (****ting new laws, it's nearly impossible to import)
Try holding reset for 5 seconds or longer to see if that does anything. It probably won't work but it is worth a try.

I think someone knows the result ^^
I think you should change the chip
I know someone who has magic3.1 and he can't really play the original xenosaga.... like you
the chip is cheaper alright but I'll getting m2(saving loads of money to afford a second ps2+chip+intall fee......)

ok, but all i wanted to do is to play import games, Suikodden 3 and Dark Cloud 2 works with no problems :)
Imports in gereral should be fine for the most part, but dvd9 is another story.

is there a chance that a PAL version would work (there the modchips is not necessary) ?? then i have to wait until it comes to europe (as i heard it should come in autum  )
I can sell the game at ebay with some profit
The only reaqson Xenosaga isn't working with your 3.1 is because it is a dvd9. The PAL version is a dvd9 as well, it was released way before the US version by the way. No mod is necessary for playing this game. This game works behind the apple chip and messiah 2 no problem. If I were you I would find somewhere that sells a HK Silver dvd5 rip of this game.

i don't know of a EU version, when there is one i would lend me a normal PS2 for a months
Welcome to the club, dude--one of which I used to be a member of.
I had a Xenosaga DVD9 and couldn't get it to work; not without a Gameshark 2, anyways. It's strange that you said Gameshark 2 couldn't help you boot the disk. My PS 2 is also a V7 (but fitted with a Magic 2 chip), and it worked (thank God!) with the Gameshark.
What version is your Gameshark 2? I have version 3.0, so maybe that's the difference.
Hope I'm not confusing more than helping...

mmhh, i can look which version, but buying lots of different GS versions isn't very cheap
but i will have a try and when it works you'll be my dude forever
mmhh i tried it! the first time i got a black screen (the PS2 read the game but couldn't boot it well) and now GS can't read disk
