anyone ever heard of a messiah 2 chip killing your v7 ps2? i got it from gocybershop.com and tried to put it in 2 ps2 motherboard and just kills it. even though i'm new at soldering, i can assure you that i'm skilled enough to put in the magic 3 chip. i'm pretty sure there wren't any bridging yadada n00b mistakes. my ps2 is dead now. make that 2 of them. thanks messiah 2 crap.

hey i installed my magic 3 and it works fine. i just wanted to change it to something better. the first unit i tried failed because i think i made a mistake. now that this one failed, i'm having doubts about this chip. i only solder in 3-4 new wires and didn't even touch the bios which should be considered the toughest part.

try contacting a mod chip installer and see if he can work with u and maybe fix or identify the problem.

man you reply fast.
You either screwed up the install or you have a faulty chip. Report back how things go.
The only thing that makes me think that it is not the chip is the fact that his first PS2 was totally killed by it. Even if the chip were faulty I cannot think of any reason beside a mistake that would totally fry a PS2. Although stranger things have happened.

most likely cause is the diode on the m2 grounding on the cooling plate (messiah 2 positioned in wrong place),if this is the case i would guess u have blown the m2
my guess would be u have 2 v7 motherboards with a fuse blown(not sure which blows) run a meter over them, its np to replace a fuse
Nightfall can I have the info for the guy in Vegas? I have a buddy’s PS2 and he wants a chip installed but theres no way in hell I’m going to kill another PS2 trying to install it.
I go to Vegas often. I have family there and it’s the nearest place with a Circuit City, sort of Phoenix, witch I HATE going to. And if I for some messed up way I need to be in Phoenix theirs a loaded 9mm pistol sitting on the dashboard of my Jeep at all times while I’m there. So go to Vegas if I need any thing, since this hick town doesn’t have jack <---->, in the way of computers in fact we don’t have any thing here but NAU.
This place is nothing but a tourist trap and a college town.

does it really matter where you place the m2? I put it where my magic 3 used to be, right next to the ba chip. They told me to put it next to the letter gh-019 but that's too far away from my wires.
I does matter where you put the chip. The placement of the magic chip often cause pressure from the metal shroud on top of the mother board. This can casue the chip to ground out on the shroud and kill your chip. I also remember one guy a while back on the forum who had a chip in the magic position and set it down to hard and the pressure broke the chip. The area where the messiah is placed has nothing under it leaving room for the chip.
