View Full Version : My PS2 with M2 is giving me a headache, I need help!

O.k. My ps2 V5 with messiah2 hasn't been working since when it start not reading anything, it will say on the screen "NO DATA" and noticed that the CD spindle is not spinning so I thought it was the laser so now I bought supposedly zero hour of cd drive from a version 7(mine is v5 but i think they're compatible) in ebay. ITried to install it today and still " NO DATA" and the spindle is not spinning. Do you think that there are other problems rather than the laser?Since it was taken out from another system does it still need calibration? I was thinking that I got the whole cd drive with the laser so i assumed that it doesn't need calibration.

To many variables for me to know for sure. A dead, and I do mean dead, laser could stop the laser from spinning, but seeing how its a v5 it's not likely. Also be very careful anytime you handle your laser. I have been informed that they are very static sensitive. Let me know how you make out with this as I have a v3 that I had given to me. I replaced the laser because I saw that one of the pots was broken. Now the only problem is that it does not spin. Best of luck to you.

Anyone else has an idea??? Well i want to make sure that the cd drive i bought is working. does anyone could recommend to check it in L.A. cali?

There are really only two other options. One is a probel that I just had recently on a PS2. The cable going to the laser was not properly seated. There was a small brown portion on the socket side on the laser. This is underneath the cable. It popped out a little so the cable was not making proper contact. It could be something like this. It could also be a stray peice of wire, a solder ball, or one of a million things has created a bridge some where in the PS2. Check the BIOS really well to begin with. Blow the board off with compressed air. To many possibilties to know for sure what it is.
