Seems like everyone recommends either the Pioneer/Cendyne burners. Are the AO5 versions compatible with Win98 ? Also, does anyone have an opinionon the Toshiba DVD-R burners ? They seem to be a good buy for about $179. Thanks !

The A05/105 works fine with 98. You can get the Cendyne for about $170 when Office Max does it their rebate offer they do every once and a while. The Toshiba is good but just about everybody here will tell you to get a Pioneer/Cendyne. Get a Pioneer/Cendyne!:)

If you have the money to spend get the Sony DRU-500A / AX (witch ever you happen to find)

Its a bad ass little burner. Will burn both - and + disks. And the AX will burn at 4x across the board (2x +, and 4x - for the A. but there is a firmware up date for that A to make it burn at 4x across the board as well). And 24x CD burning.

They go for $350 in the store, and about $275 on eBay.

Its a really sweet unit if your willing to spend a little more money.
