I tried asking for help at a very general dvd sites, but people didn't seem to know the PS2 well enough to solve my problem. I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

Basically, I have some old divx videos (some anime stuff, some captured home movies) that I'd like to be able to put onto a dvd and watch on my ps 2. I converted the divx stuff to MPEG using TMPGEnc 2.510.49.157, then I used Sonic MyDvd to make a menu so that I can select each of the 7 short videos seperately and burned it. It works perfectly on my computer, but of course I get the classic "Disc Read Error" when I pop it on my PS2. I've tried using (Ritek) Dvd-r and Dvd+r discs. Neither format works.

Of course, the question is, how do I get this to work? I've heard all sorts of things ranging from PS2 can't play any burned Dvds that have menus to the first version of the PS2 can't play any backups. Some say you should use Dvd-r and a few say you should use Dvd+r media. I'm really confused at this point.

Any information would be helpful. My PS is a PT1133 (I believe that is a very old version). I just want to be able to put captured video onto a dvd and play it on my PS2, so if the menu thing is the problem, is there any kind of workaround if you have multiple short videos (I.e. being able to set skip foward to next video?) I've been at this for a bit, but I'm still pretty n00b. Please point me in the right direction

Someone later informed me that Sonic MyDvd might be the problem, so I tried using a trial version of Ulead Dvd MovieFactory, but it still didn't work.

If you have a mod, I suggest you use the PS2 Reality Player here (http://www.ps2newz.net/PS2R%20MediaPlayer%201.25e.rar). This allows you to play divx/avi on your ps2. PT1133 doesn't help in telling what version ps2 you have. What is the scph number?

No modchip, SCPH-30001

What brand of media are you using? This may be a factor as your ps2 is an old model. Also try burning using Stomp Recordnow Max. You can get a demo here (http://www.stompinc.com/trial/index.phtml?stp)

I'm currently using Ritek dvd-r media. The only Dvd+r media I have is the rewritable that came with my dvd drive.

I tried using stomp, but as a n00b at this, I couldn't get it to work properly. I just couldn't figure out the whole AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folder thing that they mention but never explain in the help file (They should have just set it up like the Video CD option for crying out loud :).

Even if I can figure out how to make a Video DVD using the data job option, I wouldn't know how to put the sound and video together, since the program I've been using to unencode Divx files (TMPGEnc), seperates the video and sound into 2 seperate files. Maybe this is part of the problem I've been having, but the other programs I've been trying to burn with (Sonic MyDvd, MovieFactory 2 Trial) gave me the option to mix the sound file back into the movie file.
