hello, im noew to the ps2 scene, but ive been burning dc games for a while. i was wondering what type of dvd was the best to use for ps2 backups...dvd-r, dvd+r,dvd-rw, or dvd+rw

Depends on what version ps2 you have. If you don't know version you have you can check here (http://www.psx-paul.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ps2versionreference.htm). If you have a v1-v4 use dvd-r. For v5 and up -r,-rw, +r, and +rw should all work.

so if i just use -r it will work on all ps2's?

whats the difference between the different media?

Not necessarliy. If your laser is in bad shape it wont play any backups. There are no real differences in +r and -r media. They are just different formats. Neither has an advantage over the other. -r media is more widely supported by devices such as dvd players though. +r media can be a little bit more money too.

i have a v7 and mine loves Verbatim and Ritek dvd-r. But hates Memorex. Just gotta try different media out and then go from there.

Just stick with good branded media princo, traxdata, ritek

and datasafe are also okay i have been using Bulqpak 1X

and have had not one bad burn out of ...........94 so if u live in

the UK u can get those very Cheap there purple on the top

oh yeah the Yellow datasafe are cheap and are good too

if i made a exact copy of the ps2 games will i still need to mod my ps2 or will it play with no modifacations?

Yes you need a mod. Head over to the ps2 board and read some of the stickies for some useful info.

i`ve only used fws so far and i`ve had no probs at all and at 99p a disc I feel like a thief....
