You can get one for $320 at www.modchip-sbox.com. You have to email them for details. If they give you the option for which mod you want, I am assuming they will offer you one of the ones they sell, get an Apple. They are much more reliable than the magic 3.x

Ok, found a seller for Apple chips. They seem to have:

Mini Apple

What is the difference, and ... it seems that the boot process for the Apple chip is substantially more complex than that of the Magic... is that possible?

I have heard bad things about the apple mini. It is very much like a magic 3. Booting problems and all that stuff. I have an original apple and it is flawless, check out Charlie's review of it too. All you gotta do it hit reset once for ps2 games and hold reset for 2 seconds for psx games and dvd movies and that's if you just inserted the disc. If it is already in there just boot as you would an unmodded ps2. I highly recommend the original apple chip.

get the messiah 2 premoded from xmodd.com,,, excellent price,, or you can also get it from ......... ,, for $310.00 ,, i got mine from them and still have no complaints.. is a v7 for sure... whereever u get it from still good....

I beleive that you can. I do not have one but have heard several people talk about holding reset for 5 seconds to boot DVD9 games. From the way they talked about it this was a feature that was not known about before one member posted it.

The apple and messiah 2 are extremely similar performance wise. The only differences are the boot procedure and the apple is half the cost of a messiah 2.

I knew you would.:) I'll put it this way, if I were given an apple and a messiah 2(wouldn't that be nice) I would put in the messiah 2. If I had to buy a mod I would get an apple for $30 less than the messiah 2.

Yeah.... I have to agree.... Considering you can almost get 2 apples for the price of one Messiah 2......

BUT...... I still love my Messiah 2.... (and for that matter... I still love my original Messiah)

I have yet to find anything that either the original or the M2 won't boot.....

apple aint half the price no more :)

there are few faults with the apple, admittedly they are minor but there u go

apple2 isnt as good as the apple1 (the auto configure v1-v7) makes most chips less stable

oh yes plus when u get new console,apple 1 must go in same version ps2,the apple2 has no v8 support yet
so maybe u have to buy another

but agreed apple is very good cheaper option

apple is $30 plus postage ,i take a guess $38 in total messiah2 v1.30 with v8 support is $50 full stop postage is paid
as u can see its not quite half the price

messiah2 is worth the extra $12 ,u got pay $100 or $112 for chip plus install,to me its $12 well spent

but as i already said apple is still a good chip so if u really are short of cash save your $12 and buy the apple

Nobody has said that you cant tell people you INSTALL mod chips...

You just cant tell people where to PURCHASE mod chips...UNLESS its a store/website (That a forum member is NOT affiliated with)
