I buddy wanted me to look into a way to mod his GameCube to play inports. I've seen on some websites they sell modded units, so I know it can be done. He wants it to be done in the hardware so he doesn’t have to swap disks like you would have to do with FreeLoader.

yea freeloaders the only gc mod right now, that plays imports

It can't be. I've seen modded GameCubes for sale, saying they don't need FreeLoader. Says some thing about a switch on the GameCube it self.

there is something you can change inside the gc to mod it

i know in the jap models if you switched something it made the japan language turn to english and boot the games...saw something about it on ign.com i think...but i'll take a look again

i recall seein a modchip that had like 50+ solder points somewhere
but i dont recall where....

AXmichigan; sorry I didn't PM you with an address. But it seem to be you have to have a Jap. GameCube, then install a switch on it to swich from Jap/US games, as clarky was saying.

i just wanted to see what the thing could be...
hmmm the import idea i believe is useless
us games are as good if not better than others... ij ust wanna be able to back up my discs..

I really don't like the GameCube my self. Its got GREAT graphics (thanks to ATI :D) but the controllers are just to weird to get use to. And theres only one game I think thats worth playing on it.
